Our Foopak portfolio, especially Foopak Bio Natura, represents APP’s cutting-edge barrier board technology for recyclable, compostable, and PFAS-free food packaging.

We are expanding our technical capability in Europe and seeking a Technical Packaging Expert to support the New Product Introduction (NPI) of Foopak products on customer machines across the region. This role ensures that Foopak cupstock and food packaging boards run successfully on customer manufacturing lines and that our customers consistently achieve high-quality, stable output.

🚀 About the Role

The Technical Packaging Expert will lead all technical activities related to Foopak product trials, qualification, troubleshooting, and ongoing customer support. You will work directly with converters, cup manufacturers, printers, and brand owners across Europe to guarantee smooth machine compatibility and accelerate NPI timelines.

You must have hands-on expertise with global cup forming machines, diecutting, and printing processes and a strong understanding of the competitive landscape of food packaging boards.

🔍 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
New Product Introduction & Trial Management
Lead the NPI process for Foopak boards across customer sites, ensuring products run smoothly on:
Cup forming machines (e.g., Newtop Debao, Discovery, PMC, Houraf)
Diecutting lines
Printing lines (offset, flexo, digital)
Reduce trial failures, shorten qualification timelines, and improve compatibility with customer machines.
Provide on-site technical support during setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting.

Technical Expertise
Act as the subject matter expert for Foopak food packaging boards, understanding performance requirements, barrier properties, stiffness, caliper, and forming behaviour.
Evaluate and compare Foopak performance with food packaging boards on the market.
Interpret test data and production results to recommend improvements to customers and internal teams.

Customer Support & Issue Resolution
Obtain, process, and mediate customer complaints; especially those linked to technical matters; ensuring rapid, effective solutions.
Proactively monitor customer performance and ensure stable, high-quality output.

Cross-functional Collaboration
Coordinate with global teams across Technical, R&D, Product Development, Operations, and Sales.
Support the commercial team by providing technical justification for customer proposals and machine recommendations.
Market & Business Support
Provide insights into machine technology trends, material performance, and competitive board offerings.
Contribute to revenue growth by ensuring successful adoption and conversion to Foopak products.

✅ What you will bring
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Paper Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
Strong experience in food packaging, paperboard converting, or cup forming.
Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of cup forming, diecutting, and printing processes.
Familiarity with global cup forming machines (Newtop Debao, Discovery, PMC, Houraf).
Understanding of food packaging board performance requirements and competitive materials.
Strong problem-solving ability.
Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement mindset (preferred).
Fluent in English, plus one or more of the following would be a strong advantage: Spanish, French, German, Portuguese.
Must be willing to travel extensively across Europe.
