About the role: This role is critical for providing leadership and creating a safe working operations environment at our Ohinewai and Mangere warehouse. You will lead a team of 12 and oversee processing operations, health and safety, financial budgeting and customer focus. This role is based in Ohinewai, Waikato , you will work in synergy with Abodo’s operations team and report to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain. Ohinewai is the main NEW processing site however you will still support and oversee the warehousing and coating operation in Mangere. The role will require you to travel between the Ohinewai and Mangere Warehouse. Understanding timber machinery and inspiring the teams that run them is key. Day in the life: Through recruitment, coaching, development, performance management, talent and succession planning, build the people capability required to deliver sustainable performance Fully participate to build safe work environment and operating procedures. Accountable for compliance to all SOPs, policies & procedures to ensure the safe, efficient and secure processing and warehousing of products Lead the process to proactively identify and report all hazards and incidents. Ensure relevant systems are in place to process inward and outward product accurately and within specified time frames Develop, gain approval for and ensure the achievement of annual budgets and forecasts, operating plans and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) requirements all fall within approved spend for the site. Actively engaged in the planning of the site to provide structure to the operations. Develop & maintain a culture of customer service both internally and with third parties that result in optimal customer satisfaction. Maintain and develop relationships with wider Abodo network, and relevant processing 3rd party sites to ensure consistent quality of production About you: You are a great communicator, status updates, team meets, partnerships everyone knows where things are at when you are involved You have extensive experience running wood processing machinery e.g. planer, bandsaw, finger jointer, laminator and coating lines You are a great team leader at operations level, with the ability to motivate and drive productivity on the shop floor You have a strong compliance background surrounding H&S, MPI and FSC You know and understand your numbers for volumes, budgeting and cost management You are comfortable presenting business cases for capital projects You enjoy solving problems, teaching people and implementing improvements You build great supplier relationships and manage them for best outcomes You are not afraid to get in amongst the team and the operation where required You are down to earth and have a love for the beautiful timber product produced and the environment it comes from Income protection Yearly Bonus Ongoing training and development Work culture in which you thrive Please note, due to the Christmas closure we will begin shortlisting in mid-January and have face to face interviews first week of February.Products that store carbon are the future for the building material industry – so this is a growing and fast paced industry.
